On May 6, 2025, the Massachusetts Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) held its annual All-Teams Training event, hosted at the State 911 Milford facility. The day marked the end of the TERT "training year" and brought together members from across the Commonwealth for a day of professional development, recognition, and team-building.
Participants heard from guest presenters, including CJIS and the Alzheimer’s Foundation, both offering valuable insights to support TERT’s mission of public safety, preparedness, and effective emergency response. The day concluded with a fun round of ICS-themed trivia, where the Northeast Region, home to NMRECC, earned top bragging rights.
One of the event’s highlights was the presentation of the 2025 Massachusetts TERT Telecommunicator of the Year Award, which was proudly awarded to NMRECC Dispatch Supervisor Joey Aberle.
An excerpt from TERT states: Out of 68 active members statewide, Joe was selected as the top honoree for his unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions to the TERT program. As one of Massachusetts TERT’s founding members, Joe has responded to five live deployments, including multi-day missions, and played a key role in advancing readiness through training. He personally hosted two mock deployments at NMRECC, making the agency the first in Massachusetts to do so.
Joe exemplifies what it means to be ready, reliable, and resilient, and we are incredibly proud to see him recognized for his leadership and dedication, not only to the Northeast Region but to the entire Commonwealth.
Congratulations, Supervisor Aberle, and thank you for representing NMRECC and Massachusetts TERT with professionalism, passion, and purpose.
