Prepared Live

Giving NMRECC telecommunicators additional ways to communicate with callers and understand what is happening during an emergency.

More Than A Voice Call

Helping telecommunicators see, understand, and communicate.

The Northern Middlesex Regional Emergency Communications Center (NMRECC) uses Axon 911 Intelligence by Prepared as an additional emergency communications tool for callers in Dracut and Tewksbury.

Prepared can allow a telecommunicator to securely request additional information from a caller's mobile device, including live video, photographs, text messages, and location information.

The platform can also provide transcription and translation tools that assist telecommunicators when communicating with callers during both emergency and non-emergency situations.

Additional Information During A Call

What can Prepared help us receive?

Available tools depend on the circumstances of the call and the information that may help telecommunicators and responders.

VIDEO

Live Video

A telecommunicator may send a secure request allowing a caller to share live video from their mobile device.

Seeing what the caller sees can provide valuable context during incidents that are difficult to describe over the telephone.

PHOTOS

Pictures

Callers may be able to send photographs that help explain a location, hazard, vehicle, person, injury, or other important detail.

TEXT

Two-Way Text Messaging

NMRECC can use Prepared to communicate with callers by text, including in situations where continuing a normal voice call may be difficult.

LOCATION

Location Information

Prepared may provide supplemental location information that can assist telecommunicators in identifying or confirming where a caller or incident is located.

TRANSLATION

Language Translation

Prepared includes translation capabilities that can assist NMRECC when communicating with callers who do not speak English.

Depending on the workflow being used, translation may include text, translated audio, or text-to-voice communication.

TRANSCRIPTION

Call Transcription

Real-time transcription can provide an additional written reference for information being communicated during a call.

From The Caller's Perspective

How a Prepared request works

1
You contact NMRECC

You call or otherwise communicate with NMRECC about an emergency or public safety incident.

2
The telecommunicator identifies a need

If video, photographs, text, or additional location information may help, the telecommunicator can initiate a Prepared request.

3
You receive a secure link

A text message may be sent to your mobile phone with a secure link associated with the active incident.

4
You choose what to share

Follow the telecommunicator's instructions and choose whether to share the requested information from your device.

🔒
Privacy & Caller Control

Prepared does not give NMRECC unrestricted access to your phone.

The technology is used as part of an active public safety interaction. When a telecommunicator requests video, media, or another feature requiring caller participation, the caller must interact with the request on their device.

Do not delay calling 911 because you do not want or cannot use Prepared. Prepared is an additional tool and is not required in order to receive emergency assistance.

Language Access

Helping bridge language barriers.

Prepared provides NMRECC with additional options for communicating with callers who speak languages other than English.

Translation tools may allow the caller's communication to be translated for the telecommunicator while also allowing the telecommunicator's response to be provided back to the caller in their language.

These capabilities can be particularly valuable when an immediate exchange of information is needed and language would otherwise create a barrier.

Used Here At NMRECC

Technology already making a difference.

NMRECC has used Prepared during a variety of real-world incidents in Dracut and Tewksbury.

TRANSLATION

Helping reunite a family

Prepared's text translation capabilities helped NMRECC maintain communication with a Spanish-speaking woman during a multi-day incident and coordinate assistance with community partners.

CALLER COMMUNICATION

Supporting complex incidents

Text, multimedia, and location tools can provide additional communication options when callers have limited service, difficult surroundings, or an incident that is challenging to explain by voice alone.

Assistive Technology

The telecommunicator remains at the center of the call.

Prepared gives NMRECC personnel additional information and communication options, but the technology does not replace the trained emergency communications professional handling your call.

Continue to answer questions and follow instructions from the telecommunicator even when video, location, translation, or other supplemental information is available.

Remember

The most important thing you can do in an emergency is contact 911 and communicate with the telecommunicator as clearly as you are able.
