TEWKSBURY, MA — September 2026 — The Northern Middlesex Regional Emergency Communications Center (NMRECC) has launched a newly redesigned website at nmrecc-ma.gov, providing residents of Dracut and Tewksbury with an improved way to learn about the Center, access public information, and stay connected with the work happening behind the scenes of their regional 911 center.
The new website was developed to make information easier to find, improve mobile access, and create a platform that can continue to grow alongside NMRECC.
While most interactions with NMRECC happen when someone calls or texts 911, an emergency communications center's work extends well beyond answering emergency calls. The new website provides a central location for residents to learn more about that work and the people, technology, and partnerships supporting public safety communications in both communities.
Visitors can now find expanded information about calling and texting 911, emergency communications technology, public meetings and documents, employment opportunities, public records, and NMRECC news and announcements.
More Than a New Look
The project represents more than a visual redesign.
The new website also builds on NMRECC's original online presence. NMRECC Supervisor Joey Aberle, who developed the Center's first website after regionalization, helped develop the new site and shape its content, organization, and public-facing features.
Drawing on his experience working within the Center and managing many of NMRECC's public information and technology initiatives, Aberle focused the redesign on making information easier for residents to find while giving NMRECC a more flexible platform for sharing news, public resources, meeting documents, employment opportunities, and information about the work of the Center.
The result is a website designed not only to provide frequently requested information, but to give NMRECC greater flexibility to communicate directly with the public as the Center and the emergency communications profession continue to evolve.
A new News & Press Releases section provides a searchable archive of agency announcements, public safety information, technology updates, recognitions, and Center stories. Residents can also follow recent NMRECC social media activity directly from the homepage.
The Meetings & Public Documents section provides access to information from NMRECC's public meetings, including available agendas and minutes, while a new Public Records section explains how members of the public can request records the Center maintains.
Helping the Public Better Understand 911
The website also significantly expands NMRECC's public education resources.
Dedicated pages provide information about 911, Text-to-911, RapidSOS, Prepared Live, and emergency preparedness, helping residents better understand how to reach emergency services and some of the technology available to telecommunicators when they receive a call for help.
Those resources will continue to expand as technology and emergency communications services evolve.
A New Home for Careers at NMRECC
The redesigned site also introduces an expanded Careers section for individuals interested in becoming public safety telecommunicators.
Rather than simply directing prospective applicants to a job posting, the new careers page provides a closer look at the role of an NMRECC dispatcher, including responsibilities, qualifications, training, salary, schedule, benefits, and the application process.
The website will highlight current employment opportunities whenever NMRECC is hiring.
Designed for Accessibility and Growth
The new website was designed with mobile devices and accessibility in mind, recognizing that residents may access NMRECC information from a wide variety of devices and circumstances.
New accessibility, privacy, and public records information also gives visitors clearer guidance on using the website and contacting NMRECC when they need assistance.
The site was built as a platform that NMRECC can continue developing rather than as a static collection of pages. Additional public resources and capabilities are expected to be introduced over time.
"Our website should be another way for the public to connect with and understand their emergency communications center," said NMRECC Executive Director Brian O'Neill. "Most people may only think about 911 when they need help, but there is a tremendous amount of work, technology, training, and coordination happening every day behind those calls. This new website gives us a better way to share that information with the communities we serve."
The launch also establishes nmrecc-ma.gov as the Center's primary online home for official NMRECC information.
Residents are encouraged to explore the new website, read the latest NMRECC news, learn more about 911 services, review public meeting information, and follow the Center's ongoing public education and community outreach efforts.
